through the Netgear WNCE2100 for the initial hook up or does it have to be hooked up to the modem?

Sent from my ADR6300

You can configure it anyway you want as long as you have a connection. So yes you can hook it up to your wireless to configure the unit. But if you have to flash a new firmware then make sure that you connect it via hardwired.

Can you set it up with out having it connected to the modem for the first time?

Sent from my ADR6300

I did however as stated here I'm not sure that was a good idea.

And thirty5 I have it working and can access it from my home network however I cannot connect to it from my phone if I am not here or if I turn my wifi off. How do I go about making that work?

Need to configure it to allow access from the outside..... you won't need WiFi once you have it properly configured. If you want me to help you with it lemme know. We can figure a time that we are both around and I can help you remotely. Tour will need the username and password to your router....

Do you already have the Apex? If you need to get it connected lemme know. I will give you a hand.

Thanks for the offer :D

I might have to take you up on this... I bought the JR recently, and hooked it up to my PC (using the ethernet cable). Right now the controller is connected to my PC (which is on the second floor). Tank is on first floor, and I'd rather control this via wireless adapter using my iPad/iPhone.

I bought the wireless adapter (Netgear WNCE2001). It looks kind of straight forward, but I don't want to screw anything up.

What's my next move?

So I'm trying to configure the network/wifi access. I'm following this to the T:

1. Go to the configuration>network setup page of your controller.
2. Disable DHCP and Update network settings
3. Please take note of your controller?s IP address. This is how your controller is identified on your
home network.
4. Now locate your ?Gateway,? this is the IP address of your router.
5. Open a new web-browser tab and type: http://?IP Address of your Router?
a. More than likely you?ll receive a login prompt. This is the user name and password of
your router. It is often written on your router some place. If you cannot determine
this, then consult the router?s user manual or your contact your ISP.

......This (step 5) WI-fi login screen is driving me NUTS. I am typing in the correct user id and pw, (even tried copy and paste to make 100% sure it is correct, and NOTHING. I used the "find my password" utility and nothing. I changed the password to see if that would help, but it didn't work... any ideas?

atleast you're getting the login prompt. try a google search of the model if your router and 'default password'. probably just trying the wrong user/pw combo.

I ended up using the "admin" and "password" and it brought me to the setup wizard. I followed the directions on the user manual exactly and was never able to get the iPad or iPhone to connect. It would even recognize the Apex but wouldn't connect. It always timed out. Then I tried to reset/restart everything to see if that would work, but then I couldn't pull up the apex page on the web browser.
