Hello everyone! This is my first post so here's a real brief rundown of my tank: 120 gal acrylic tank. 30 gal sump with 2 filter socks, live rock rubble, chaeto and caulerpa growing like mad, brs gfo/carbon reactor, aquamedic skimmer, uv sterilizer. 2 MP40's up top with 2 led fixtures..
My wife and I made the beginners mistake and bought a decorator crab because it was "cool". He lost his appeal when he started to go to town on my frags. We brought him back to the store after we got what we could off his arms and glue what was left to a rock. A few weeks later we noticed this strange growth on the side of a polyp.. any ideas what it might be? Worrying it was a worm of sorts I removed the rock, because the rock is gone, this is where you guys tell me that I threw away an ultra rare coral that only grows in melville under a full moon!
Thanks!
Ryan

Thanks for the quick replies!! The polyp it was on did not have a defined stalk, head separation. The other same polyps have a stalk maybe 1/10 the size of the head. I was hoping that the squiggles were some kind of brain coral but two lfs said it looked like bite marks from a worm. It was smooth, no hairs, one or two spots that almost looked like tiny empty barnacles. It doubled in size and complexity in a week.
