Whats growning on my ricordias?

i noticed this about a week ago when my ricordia was trying to split itself in half. These things that are growing seem to be growing larger....

The other half of the ricordia is behind it. Its still attached by about a quarter inch of it. Will it seperate completely by itself?

Huh? I've never seen a ricordia do that to split...
Do they look like that all the time? And have you actually seen those things eat?

The other half of the ricordia is behind what? Do you have another view of this, maybe from a bit further away?

Well aware of that Crox..I have 20+ ricordias...

Subaru, have you tried touching the brown 'stuff'? Does it break apart easily and does look like it is made of fibers..if so, more than likely a sponge, but you mentioned a mouth and that would be unusual at best...

if i touch it, it kinda feels like a mushroom. soft and slimy...

its a sponge .you can scrap it off with a knife ,...the sponges intake water from one hole and out the other flitering it out . They come in all colors ,red ,pink ,blue green yellow and brown and other colors too

they are good ,they filter out the water. But if you dont like it ,you can take it off ,just dont stress out the ric in the process

I have a sponge growing on my zoas...well between them. They dont seem to bother the zoas at all mine grow upward like a treet and are a tan color they do break off fairly easy. But I leave mine alone because they dont cause any trouble.
