After some recent re-aquascaping I turned over a rock to find this liitle "clam" looking thing. It has what looks like spines all over its shell? Wondering if anyone knows exactly what it is. Sorry for the crappy pics. The dark areas on the shell are really many small black spikes sticking out. the points on the spines actually look sharp.

It probably is a little clam, not unusual to find them on on live rock. They are harmless and usually so small that when they do eventually die they don't impact the tank.

How big would you say it is?

id say it's about the size of a quarter if you bent the quarter to a clam shape. Also it's about as thick as a peanut m&m

Fine then..he will do a his little tiny part of cleaning a little tiny portion of your water as they are filter feeders :)
btw - they usually stay tiny like that, enjoy him & give him a good home!
