In general, what are the requirements and criteria? I am aware of the need for local business licence and state sales licence etc. but don't know whats involved in buying supplies wholesale. My main activity is propagation but I plan to do some aquarium maintenance and a few sales etc.

thanks--

Most wholesalers will require a copy of your business license and your sales tax license. If you will be purchasing our housing animals (fish/inverts) you may need to check with your local Dept. of Agriculture or DNR to see if there are any animal protection/sales licenses required.

If you plan on doing propagation and you want the local stores to buy from you, you would probably be better off working with one of them than trying to compete against them. Most retailers don't like to buy from competitors.

Dizzy,
Thats a good point you bring up. However, I really don't plan in doing much outright retail but my main reason is to be able to buy the supplies wholesale. This way I can stand a little better than a "snowball's chance in hell" of just breaking even in the propagation business!

I think his point was to find a a retailer who will let you buy wholesale through them in exchange for frags.
