A classic one line zinger at the bottom of your post made it memorable.
"A degree in 'talk and post' and do nothing".
If only supporters of netcaught fish would actually support netcaught dealers and buy them, we'd move a lot futher along.
We have at least 10 'talk and post' supporters for every one real supporter...and it speaks volumes for the depth of commitment and sincerity among 'eco-oriented' aquarists. And these are the active elite!
It underscores the fatal flaw in the logic that "it must start with a revolutionary change in the mindset of the aquarist". That is bad strategy as it will not happen to any significant degree..
It must and will in fact start with the proactive deeds of a few without approval or support from the re-active masses... When the deeds finally produce enough "cheap color" then the masses will follow like the zombies in the "Day of the dead." Perhaps even a few eco-oriented, elite aquarist, talk and posters will to.
Hence know and "T n P"...ie...talk and post.

Hey John
There is really a lot more to running a business than it seems. You need to learn how to do basic business accounting, use a balance sheet, income statement, statement of cash flows, calculate a return on equity, business law, risk management, and the list goes miles long.

Hope you don't me using your quote....It seems the way people get smacked around this place sometimes for trying to have a conversation & asking ones opinuion and it was all he did. Kris's statement is good advice. However BB.....I would also throw in the following course's..
Law-School
Political science
and the real important one...your degree in talk & post, but do nothing degree.....LMAO :roll:

geese, frank-i met bb, -he's a young(16 or thereabouts) kid-who's all fired up about getting into this biz-came to our store, and we encouraged him to fill out a job app.

is this the reaction that's gonna encourage him to do anything in this biz?

No, no...you missed my point altogether. It was not a knock on the kid far from it. He should be incouraged. What I was trying to point out was people that have opinions here, ask question, suggest things or pass on idea's usually get hammered or smacked around from some of the Brain dead here. I guess I failed in getting that point across. The remark about the talk, post and do nothing degree was not aimed at him, it was meant for the airheads that knocked the kid. The ones that do an awful lot of talking and posting but do nothing. I guess I fail to get that message across.

I think it is wonderfull to have dreams and to one day possibly persue some of them. It is dreams like this one individual has that has made this country. Every store and business you see was once a dream in someones head. Yes, some dreams may lead to failure, and some not. But regardless of the outcome, atleast the dreamer can say outloud that he/she persued a dream they had. We need to support these dreamers by providing them with facts and support, not slander. I say dream on...its your dream !!
