ANY ONLINE RETAILERS WISHING FOR CONSUMERS TO EASILY FIND YOUR SITE, PLEASE VISIT MY GROWING LIST OF RETAILERS AND EMAIL ME YOUR WEB SITE ADDRESS IF YOUR SITE IS NOT LISTED.

----

Is there a list somewhere of online retailers (that do sales online) and wholesalers (with at least contact information online)??

If theres not, I'd like to set something up for this.. As a consumer, it's a lot more of a PITA to find retailers than it should be. And as a potential retail startup, I'd like to know my options in regards to wholesalers.

Your best bet with regards to wholesalers is to get in touch with APPMA (American Pet Products Manufacturers Association). Also I believe that Pet Product News prints a comprehensive directory as well.

You relize that on line wholesalers selling to the public will eventually put small info filled privately oned pet stores out of biz. if alll the hobbist start buying all there dry goods on line. So if you are someone looking to start a store I strongly suggest finding a local wholesaler that does not sell on line or to your customer at a cheaper price than you have on your shelf.
Let me know where you are looking and I will try to help.

Thanks for the tips guys. I guess mostly I'm looking for online retailers.

I've only tossed it around in my head about maybe opening a store because where I'm at there's lots of really good, cheap property and absolutely NO competition within an hours drive in any direction. (And only 1 store that would be serious competition as well..) I already have a 100% full time job where I'm tied down with a cell 24/7 and after building a brand new house last october I don't know that I'm ready for the kind of commitment starting a shop would be quite yet...

If no one knows of an existing list of online retailers, one thing I definitely can do right now though is set something up on the web for consumers to find retailers who sell online. (Which I'm already kinda doing actually, check the "www" link below where my profile info is and hit the dumb little site I slapped together for my 30.. http://webpages.charter.net/gratefuldiver

If what I have for a list of online retailers is about all there is, I'd say it's pretty sad and apparently there's a lot of shops out there that could benefit from a technical edge..... (It's not as expensive as it used to be guys and there are a lot more people actually buying online now too..)

So... - I guess here's the call... - If you have a retail operation and do sales online, please email me your web address.

Thanks,
Norm

And no, I'm not looking to charge for advertising, selling info to 3rd parties, charging consumers for access to the list or any bogus BS like that. Just looking for what the internet should be, a freeflow of information.

I'm confused as to what you are planning. Are you looking for wholesalers that sell online or retailers? Are you planning on opening a retail store or running a mail order company?

I would like to organize a "database" of online retailers, sorted first by dry goods and livestock and then further broken down by specific offerings (if desired) and quickly sortable from there. It would be nice to also have a list of wholesalers in the same manner (available by request and open to retailers only) but that's completely secondary to what I'd like to do.

I have only tossed around the idea of opening a retail store. If I were to actually do so, it would be at least several years down the road at best.

I'd like to do this because as a consumer its far more difficult to locate retailers than it should be. Searches on the major search engines are cluttered with non-retail results (normally a good thing.) And bulletin boards like RDO and RC are supported by advertising from the larger retailers, which I'm guessing (hoping) is only a small fraction of the retailers actually doing business online.

I simply want to setup something far more comprehensive than the little list I've compiled on my site so far.

Ahh, yes he does, thank you! - I'll parse out what we both have and send him anything I might have that he doesn't (if any)..
