I think I am back too.


Industry to me means the whole collection of people/businesses involved in the collection/shipment/sale and research/raising/sale of ornamental fish and corals as well as those involved in the manufacture and sale of products supporting the keeping of ornamental fish and corals like salt, skimmers, tanks etc.


Its the same as any other large industry, like boatbuilding for instance. That industry does not just mean the companies that sell boats, it includes builders of boats, builders of parts for boats, companies that sell boats and parts and supplies for boats, companies that sell trailers for boats, marinas that service or store boats... etc etc


I don't think that listing out exactly what industry is will help a certain somebody understand at all though...

if part or all of you're income is derived from mo's(collecting,breeding,propagating, selling, regulating, writing about, making products for), you are the industry imo.
those of us who buy this stuff(me included) no matter how long we have been doing it are not.

so how does one form a group that properly and accurately represents the 'industry' ?

Well,

The my idea was to build a board of directors made up of all sectors of the "Industry". These board members would attend 4-6 meetings per year, and also help promote involvement to their customers (retailers) while giving input as to the best direction for the org.

This is really a small industry and everyone really knows everyone. It would not be hard to reach high profile people to become involved. I believe it's attractive and possible.

Vitz could be a representative of the hobbyist sector and help formulate his interests into the org's plans and benefits. :lol:
