Ahhhh ... errr ... actually ... no.

While there are five recorded opening monologues for original The Twilight Zone series, only four were ever aired. None of these openings included, "Submitted for your approval".

The four that aired are ...

"You're travelling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That's the signpost up ahead - your next stop, the Twilight Zone!"

"There is a fifth dimension beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area we call the Twilight Zone."

"You're travelling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination - Next stop, the Twilight Zone!"

The line referred to is actually from script narrations (as distinct from the series' opening) in episodes including To Serve Man (3.2.1962). Serling also used something similar ... "Please to present for your consideration ..." in The Trouble with Templeton (12.9.1960).

I once worked at a high sierra residential summer camp which enrolled some hyper-bright kids who (for reasons which still elude and frighten me) had taken it upon themselves to commit to memory most of the original five seasons' scripts (and carried around the books to prove it). Engaging in Twilight Zone trivia challenges with them was psychically dangerous.

Needless to say ... they scarred me for life. 8O
