I was out collecting Ornate cowfish tonight we do it at night as these species seem to be more prevelant at night These are temperate fish so was collecting fish about 70kms from Melbourne Australia
Having quite a good run had a Male in the net and kneeled on the bottom and was kneeling on a rather large Smooth stingray of about 1.5 mtres across needless to say I s@@t myself and rolled backwards and we both swam of 8O 8O
In was probabley the quickest my heart had beaten for some time I kept the fish in net and decided to call it a night
We encounter large rays quite a bit but not like this.

Close call there mate! I am sure you flashed on the Steve Irwin incident....and they say that lightning can't strike in the same place right?

Must have made you take back a nice drink after, but better a ray then a white shark I guess. Man diving at night in Austrailia must be awesome. I can't imaine the thrill of thinking their might be a large white shark near........
