persumably so. to own coral or any type is illegal. but i am sure people still do have some. the laws here are set up to protect local species from foreign invaders.

I live on Hickam and I see zoo's all the time in the sand of the lagoon if you wanted some. They're a metallic green/blue coloration.

I've been on reefcentral this whole time, and haven't seen any hawaii people. Finally! A site with some connection to the hawaiian islands. We need to find out how to get tanks that look like the aquarium down in waikiki. Why can they, and not us?

Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me out with this.

"If you're military heres a good thing to know. While there arent any reefs around here to worry about damaging, only military police have jurisdiction on the base beaches. Theres lots of stray live rock close to shore you can collect for personal use as long as you don't gain capital."

I was wondering if you can tell me a little bit more about that. Im military and would definetly take advantage of this if I knew a little bit more about it. Is it written down anywhere or a contact that I could speak to? Im looking for some new liverock to help reseed my tank and get some new stuff growing in it.

I also recently purchased Zoanthids at a local pet store on Oahu, so they are available from time to time. Can you collect them while diving? I saw a bunch of blue/white clove polyps last time I went diving?

I would be interested in some more Zoa's if possible? Anything that would make my tank look better then some "weak live rock" that I have slowly seasoned myself through live sand and a few small rock rubble pieces that I found. It is very frustrating. By the way Im stationed at Pearl, Submarine Force.

Your looking on in all the wrong places on RC then as there is a several hundred post thread of just HI "reefers" :) It's in the general forum. OVer the last fwe years I've seen a 30 - 40 HI reefer influx on RC.

You mean the public aquarium in Waikiki?

Definetly, Im not too familiar with the base though. Are they hard to collect? Do you collect them yourself? If so, maybe I could join you sometime to collect.

Fish here are super cheap. Morish idols in good health, never shipped are only like $15 USD, Anthias $8, Flame Angels $15 ect. For the collectors out there, I usually see Hawaii Dragon's for a steady $600 twice a month.
