POSITION: Production Manager
DATE: 2/27/2008
Salary: Commensurate on experience
DUTIES: Describe functions in terms of outcomes/results rather than method used or how a job is normally accomplished.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the job:
1. Oversees/performs work in the daily operations of hatcheries.
2. Compiles and analyzes data for the production and inventory reports.
3. Prepares other necessary documents, such as disease and feed records.
4. Oversees facility improvements and streamlines production where possible.
5. Supervises and communicates with staff on production goals and other pertinent information.
6. Performs other job related tasks, even outside of standard working hours, to ensure the successful operation of the company.
7. Aids in maintaining a safe and clean workplace.
8. Supervises/performs day-to-day husbandry including feeding, tank inventories, disease diagnosis and treatment, as well as preventative care and maintenance.
9. Supervises the harvesting, sorting, grading of product.
10. Plans all production goals to meet the growing sales demand.
11. Oversees all experiments to improve production quality and quantity.
12. Maintains all hatcheries supplies, as needed.
PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS essential to the satisfactory performance of the functions of the position, or other characteristics, which have, not otherwise been described in the position description.
Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
Work is performed in a covered greenhouse type structure 50% of the time. Work is performed in an indoor office environment 50% of the time. Worker is exposed to adverse environmental conditions (heat, cold) 50% of the time.
Worker may be exposed to material requiring the use of personal protective equipment as part of job duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelors degree and six years applicable experience in commercial aquaculture or equivalent combination of education and experience. Marine ornamental aquaculture experience preferred.
2. Supervisory experience necessary.
3. Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekend.
4. Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of management and staff.
5. Must have a valid Florida Driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
