First off, I must apologize for what I am about to post. I can't take it anymore.
Caterham, time and time again, why do you insist on discouraging people from contributing to this forum. Why do you essentialy tell them to
cheering for them on the sidelines, out of play.
I interperte this as look but don't touch.
This
forum is on a hobby site in order to give hobbyists access and input to discussion such at this.
Why must you push against the spirit of what this fourm is. Why do the mods allow you to bully people like this. especially people that are not, "involved with the trade".

FYI, this forum is defined as:
A forum dedicated to discussing industry issues such as sustainable collection techniques, legislation affecting the hobby, and industry reform.

And the forum is on a hobby site in order to give hobbyists access and input to discussion such at this.

Naesco,

Thanks so much for your contributions to this thread.

Unfortunately, with absolutely zero past or current involvement in the trade of marine ornamentals there are some folks here is this community that might take your comments somewhat lightly.

I respect your efforts and hope that you continue to stay involved. All good teams have people cheering for them on the sidelines, out of play.

Warmest regards,

My only connection to this hobby is that I am a hobbyist. Don't even think about posting your speal with this, I know that people might not care about what I have to say about this hobby. It is still my right to post here just as much as yours.

Once again I apologize to eveyone else for what I have just typed.

Have you read every single one of Waynes posts in this forum over the years? You might have a different opinion if you did.

The post in question is specific to one person. Sorry if it came across as to all people. We allow it because Catherham has a right to express his opinion and there are long standing issues and frustrations that some have with Naesco's posting. One of those issues is that some think Naesco posts as if he is involved in the industry, but he really isn't. I will think about asking Catherham to change the wording of his boiler plate response to make it feel less like it is about a class of people and more like it is about a single person.

What an excellent question to ask?

For that record, Thales, my involvement in the hobby is posted for all to see at the beginning of forum.
For you, Thales to suggest that I am misrepresenting myself is simply nonsense.
Some posters may disagree with my opinions or advice but some do as well.
For you Thales to suggest that Catherham change his boiler plate response to make it even more personal is reprehensible.
I would respectfully ask that you consult with your colleagues on the appropriateness of Catherham's boiler plate response because IMO it violates the rules (UA addendum) for forum conduct on this board, as well as the appropriateness of your comments here.

You sir, owe me an apology. By PM is fine.

Thank you
Wayne Ryan

And mine isn't.

For you, Thales to suggest that I am misrepresenting myself is simply nonsense.

I never suggested any such thing. I explaned one of the issues some have with you, I took no side in the matter.

Some posters may disagree with my opinions or advice but some do as well.

That sentence doesn't make any sense.

For you Thales to suggest that Catherham change his boiler plate response to make it even more personal is reprehensible.

I wouldn't ask him to change it to say you are short or make fun of where you live, but I might ask him to reword it so it doesn't make it seem like hobbyists are useless or unwelcome in this forum. Surely you understand the difference between personal and specific.

I would respectfully ask that you consult with your colleagues on the appropriateness of Catherham's boiler plate response because IMO it violates the rules of the forums on this board,

I have, and we disagree with you - as you have been told about a dozen times over the last year or two.

as well as the appropriateness of your comments here.

Oy.

You sir, owe me an apology. By PM is fine.

I sir, owe you no such thing as I was explaining the issue, not agreeing, or disagreeing with it. I would expect, as a lawyer, you would be able to tell the difference.

Please do not send me any pm's on this issue, as nothing has changed since the last 12 times we have talked about it.

Thales, I believe you have repeatedly violated the rules set for this forum. This forum is not closed to just those in the trade. In
fact it was and still should be a forum where the trade interacts with hobbyists. Wayne is a hobbyist and you and Caterham do not
have the right to treat him this way.
Caterham should not have the right to make the same posting over and over when it usually is not relevant to what is
being discussed on the thread.

Whether you agree with Naesco or not is irrelevant. He has the right to post on this forum provided it is relevant to the
thread being discussed.

Feel free to let me know how. As Wayne knows, I would prefer this kind of discussion be in PM.

This forum is not closed to just those in the trade.

I am confused - I made that same point.

In fact it was and still should be a forum where the trade interacts with hobbyists.

Yes I agree - I made that same point.

Wayne is a hobbyist and you and Caterham do not have the right to treat him this way.

You do realize that Wayne considers himself an industry member, and this whole current discussion is going on because Caterham says that Wayne is not?

Before I asked Caterham to use a boiler plate response to Wayne, responses to Wayne in general were much nastier. Caterham has as much right to express his opinion on Wayne and his 'credentials' as Wayne has to keep posting his 'credentials'.
As for my response to Wayne above, Wayne knows full well that if he posts publicly, I will respond to him publicly - its something he and I have been over a lot.

Caterham should not have the right to make the same posting over and over when it usually is not relevant to what is
being discussed on the thread.

I am not sure why Caterham shouldn't have the ability to respond to Waynes posts. I asked for, and approved, the boilerplate response so Caterham could make the point he wants to make, and so it would be less distracting to the thread in general. When Wayne first complained, I asked him to also write a boilerplate response and offered to work with him on it but he never took me up on it.

Whether you agree with Naesco or not is irrelevant.

Yes I agree.

He has the right to post on this forum provided it is relevant to the thread being discussed.

Yes I agree, and don't believe I ever said otherwise.

Thales, you conspired with Catherham, a member of this forum by asking him to, and approving a boilerplate response against me, another forum member, which is offensive to me and others.

I have respectfully requested your apology by PM and you have declined.

Accordingly, I am asking that you resign as a moderator at this time or, at the minimum, take a leave of absence for a while until you understand that basic fairness is a minimal requirement of a moderator.

I don't see why, and I don't see how it is conspiring as it was done in the open and you have known about it since it started. You were getting picked on and complaining to me about it. People were complaining about how you were negatively impacting this board. The boilerplate was a compromise.

Thales, you further cast doubt on my professional competence.

I can't apologize for something I haven't done. I will say that I am sorry that you think I was saying you aren't involved in the industry. In reality, I don't actually care if you are or aren't.

Sigh. You know full well how you have been asked to proceed with complaints like this. I am sure Len is looking forward to your pm.

How can Thales resign as moderator when he is not even the moderator. He does happen to be Site Admin. I am with Caterham and Thales on this.

Hey wait, no one has "a right to post", that's poppycock!!!! You are allowed to post here, and that can be taken away at any moment if you cross the line, plain and simple.

Are we voting people off the island yet? :P
