I have a hammer coral that is absolutely beautiful but I noticed a small area near the top that is not opening. The rest is normal and looks great. Is this normal? Do I need to do anything? Help!!!

Sallen,

Watch that area closely, if it begins to spread then your E. ancora may be in trouble. The areas of concern are water quality, circulation, nutrition, illumination, etc. Tell us more about your tank and how it is maintained. For example, do you add calcium, do you feed your e. ancora? What is the orthophosphate level?
