I just received a Duncan coral as a gift( my girlfriend is the best) and had a few questions about it. First, placement. Second, lighting. Third, growth rate. Fourth, target feedings? Lastly, price paid (2 heads for 25$). Any info would help, and I'm looking for personal experiences with this coral. Thanks everyone ahead of time!

I bought a 2 head duncan probably in august-september...it is now about 16 heads...i target feed about once a week but it gets a lot from the column when i don't. It's one of my favorites :)

Just realized, forgot to answer some of your questions...i have it low and off to the side in my tank. It gets reasonable flow and not too much light. It's been in the same spot since i bought it and doing so well, i don't want to touch it :)

Thanks for the help! I was gonna put it towards the bottom and off to the side but that just secured my thoughts! And I hope mine has the same growth rate as yours! Looks amazing btw, an IDE love to see a full shot of your tank, is that a candy came in the backround?

duncans are super easy to keep! i had several in the past and they prefer low placement, med flow and pretty much anything from mh-t5-leds will work. i would say less than more lighting is better. i sometimes spot fed mine in the past some mysis shrimps but the peppermints would steal it right out of the mouth. i had a frag w 4-5 heads and sprouted several more babies over the course of a few months. 2heads for 25 is an ALRIGHT price. i've seen some places for 8$ per head and even cheaper on the forum. but then again the GF bought it so she's a keeper!

I bought one head about 4 months ago and paid about 10 bucks. I was told that they need to be low in tank... that said I put on sandbed in my 29 biocube w retrofit leds, but gave it moderate flow, and fed it daily with a baster... fast forward the thing is beautiful, and big with approx 12-15 heads... good luck with them

They are slow to adapt to light.
You can move them up higher but you have to do that slowly so they can acclimate.

A great way to feed them is with a plastic soda bottle with the bottom cut off.
Put that over the coral and use a dropper or baster to put food into the bottle.
I fed mine cyclopeez that way and it exploded. They will take food from the water column but you get faster growth with spot feeding.

I've been experimenting with target feeding... I have a reef tank and in the same house there's another reef tank ... We've been doing te same thing to both tanks, that is same dosing schedules same feeding schedules same light times etc. only difference is target feeding. We only do that to one tank, and that tank is non stop growth, everything from frogspawn to open brain to sun coral, but especially the acans, they exploded! So this is going to be the end of this experiment, and now the only difference In tanks will be vodka dosing ... .25" growth in two weeks for one Monti cap, and the growth of my green monti cap didn't grow around, but bulked up(got thicker whereas the purple grow outward) thanks for all the advise everyone!

There are the Duncan's , they were just fed and re-extending but there Doug good, and also a shot of the acan frag I mentioned. Who knows a place close to Staten Island where I can get ultra color acans?
