Will soft corals (xenia, leathers) and lps do better under brighter lights, or is there a point where it gets to be too much?

right now I have 275W of pc over my 55gal, what would need to be done to acclimate to any lighting changes.

the tank is a corner tank (oceanic, pie-piece shape) so I am thinking a single pendant style light might work well...??

This could look nice if I could figure out a way to include my blue specturm nicely...I am hoping to get the canopy off, the one now is pretty low, so it is hard to cram everything under it.

any suggestions?

Soft corals in general do pretty well under lower intensity light than LPS or SPS. If you were to upgrade your lights they certainly wouldn't hurt from it.
