A couple of months ago this guy has developed a small loss of tissue near the center the hole is about the size of a penny. The hole does not seem to be getting bigger. Will it heal itself.?

Yes they can fully recover. Sometimes algae grows over the exposed skeleton and the coral has a hard time competing with it. You can take a tooth brush and scrub the area to make sure it is clean. There needs to be enough current accross it to prevent anything from settling on the bare spot.
