bleeding apple scoly or Acanthophyllia

pick this piece up today at a lfs for a ridiculously cheap price thought it was a scoly but someone else said it was a acanthophyllia so what do you guys think

It's what they used to call a Scoly but they changed it's name and is now called a acanthophyllia.

so its different from a bleeding apply scoly?

What they're now calling Scoly are a lot smaller than what the old Scoly were. The one that you have actually gets very large, and needs a good deal of room. Do a search on both and you'll see the difference.

By the way, the name "bleeding Apple Scoly, is just a made up name for a specific color, not a separate type of coral.
