We have now begun a shift from ncfrag to MASC. Marine Aquarium Society of the Carolinas....
NCFRAG was getting too large and cumbersome and the meetings were highly unorganized. In response, we have started up MASC (
http://masotc.org ). MASC is a dues based society (like most) and we plan on providing multitudes of benefits to our members across the carolinas. For example:
1) Organized Meetings (would include):

More organized meeting locations with better facilities. (For example, the vet school at NC State for our first meeting)

Bringing in nationally renowned speakers to talk about current subjects of concern.

Bringing together regional people who are top in their field to speak and bring examples of current technologies and techniques for aquarium husbandry.

Personal contact with people local to your area for trade, sales, or tank-sitting.

Refreshments.

Frag creation demonstrations, give-aways, and sales.

Access to meet the vendors from across the Carolinas and purchase items at a discount.
2) Website:

File uploads/galleries per person for displaying frags for trade purposes.

Member tank section for viewing member tanks.

Full suite of forums for discussing all issues related to aquarium keeping, trading, selling, buying, and powerbuys.

Personal email:
[email protected]. (webmail or pop3 or forward)

Powerbuys for members, these are great deals offered through local and online vendors to members. Great items at great, temporary pricing.
3) Other Benefits:

% off at local fish stores in your area with membership cards.

Reduced cost for special events such as aquarium tours, SCUBA trips, etc.

Notices and access to special events related to aquarium keeping.
possibility of hosting MACNA (the largest Marine Aquarium meeting in the country) with massive lists of speakers and vendors.

Contacts with others in a larger multi-state area with specific interests near to your own.

Regionally oriented meetings in your area in addition to the largest yearly meeting that rotates through locations throughout the carolinas.
