  1. Anthias importation and the hobby

Well I work at a LFS and I can say I have seen about 7-10 different species of anthias from different suppliers. They never ID them properly and a lot of them will say red anthias , yellow anthias... on the order lists. The other main reason is they don't ship well depending on the species...
  2. 2 reasons for clicking sounds

Mantis shrimp also click. I keep 4 of them as pets at this time and they click. Alex
  3. Kelp and Sargasium Plant

I know sargasium is a fast growing macro and i just got some from a friend. I am trying to grow lots of macros that my fish can eat and leave alone so they can grow. I planed on having the sargasium in my main tank but my blonde naso decided it tasted good so it is my refugium now. I was...
  4. Additional equipment for Coolpix 995?

I put my 995 in manual mode and set the ISO to 800 so I can hand hold the camera. I have taken some great closeups free hand. Just make sure you are in the close up mode in manual. Alex
  5. Wave Makers Kick A**

I have not heard of those but. I have heard of making home made ones with regular timmers. But I wanted it to be random current not steady changes and that is what mine does it was still expensive though. Alex
  6. Wave Makers Kick A**

Mine are chattering a little. It is working good though it is blasting everything with a good cycling current. The corals are still getting used to it but they should be ok. Alex
  7. Wave Makers Kick A**

Well I work at a store so I got it there. It is 200 retail. I get a good deal for my work so I always buy there. Are you in the UP by the Calidonia Copper Mine? Alex
  8. colt coral question

I would not worry too much about it. The coral is new and it might take a couple days before it opens all the way. Colts are tough corals I have had mine for over a year now and it has been eaten to almost nothing and then recovered to be over a foot accross. Alex
  9. Wave Makers Kick A**

I just got a wave maker for my 125gal reef. I got the RedSea Wavemaster Pro. This thing is great I have 4 powerheads on it now. The corals are loving it and the fish too. I think I finally have my currents right. I have a rio 2500 pushing on one side. A 1.5gal surge on the other side. And...
  10. who is this guy anyway??

If you are just getting started I can suggest the local club. The site is www.masm.org We meet in Troy every month with a speaker or for trading and just talking. I would defenatly check it out. I also work at a LFS. Pet Connection on 5 mile and Middlebelt in Livonia. As for Mark...
  11. Tubastrea help!!

How much are you feeding it? It is nonphotosynthetic so you need to feed it if you are not already. If you want it to open spray some food on it and it should trigger it to open. Once opened you have to feed it directly with bring mysis or another food that the polyps can take. I was giving...

  13. New Clown Tang and Anthias

I hate to break it to you but I work at the LFS where I got it. I feed the fish there so I know how he was doing. I know they are hard to keep but someone has to try keeping them to see what works. Alex
  14. lighting opinions for 92 gal. corner tank

Since you want to have clams and SPS I would go with the 250w MH as for the other lighting the PC's are great. I would also look into JBJ retro kits because they have a 13 month warranty on them so if there is a problem take it back to your store or send it to the company. CSL are good lights...
