well, this may be too, too simple but.....if you put it underwater (assuming you have one already) and plug it in you will be able to tell by the water movment. It is a powerful pump tho so you may want to try this in your garbage can full of replacement water. amber

I'm running 2 actinic PC lights ( 96 watts) which I bought from Hello Lights.( and 4 10K) My friend tells me that some so-called actinic lights don't produce the 420 nm(?) light spectrum. If you have "hello lights"--are they working for you? TIA amber

just my 2 cents. If your fish only tank (for example) gets diseased, the water will be pumped into all the tanks, even your prop (frag) tank where the animals have cuts or breaks or whatever (and potentially lowered immune systems) that would attract the bacteria. amber
