In an oceanic tank with canopy hood...lights would be about 8 inches from water line or so with full glass canopy between themm....do you think i will have a heat prob?

the striped damsel was really annoying the inhabitants of my FO tank including picking on my blue throat trigger (which was about 3 times the size of the damsel). So, i put him in an old pickle jar with the intentions of bringing him to the fish store....Anyway, it was a monday and on the way...
i set mine up this way because i like the look of it...dont like all that sand in the tank....i plan on setting up a refugium in the sump with a dsb and macro algae...is this ok...my sump is only 20 gal long for a 65 tank...over 80 lbs live rock in tank...
is it big enough for a starter reef? I will prob disassemble the bio tower in the sump or maybe just use it without bioballs...keep my urchin skimmer and just bought a 96 x 4 pc fixture for my existing canopy...
