  1. sexual caulerpa/ tank crash

I have a 40 Gallon tank with a 10 Gallon sump, 45 lbs of live rock and only three corals, a bunch of snails, a couple crabs and 2 cleaner shrimp. My live rock is covered with tons and tons of grape caulerpa. I came back from a week in the Dominican and all my caulerpa had gone sexual, the...
  2. leather sick?

What does a dying finger leather look like? I got him about 3 weeks ago and he was doing really well. I had him down in the gravel and he was sprouting little buds and his limbs seemed to be growing pretty quickly. Then I decided to move him up closer to the light and he seemed not to like...

    hellooooooooo... Sea Critters? Anyone?
  4. gorgonia question

Not sure about the species. It is yellow/orange with white polyps.
  5. gorgonia question

Any idea how I might get in touch with them? Sea Critters.... are you out there?
  6. gorgonia question

    http://www.sea-critters.com/, I mean.
  7. gorgonia question

A better search uncovered www.sea-critters.com, but that site seems to be down. Anyone know if these people are still out there?
  8. gorgonia question

Do you have a web address for Sea Critters? I can't seem to find them.
  9. gorgonia question

I took someone else's advice on this board and rub all the algae off of them every couple weeks. It seems to stay under control that way. I also feed it at least three times a week. Does anyone out there have experience with these guys? Are their polyps usually out, even when not being fed?
  10. gorgonia question

Does the amount of time a gorgonian has its polyps out give you an indication as to its health? Should I be worried that, more often than not, my gorgonian has only a few, if any, polyps out at any given time. The only way it puts them all out is if I the couple that are out, and then keep...
  11. blue legged hermit question

You just rubbed the algae off of the gorgonian? I'll try that tonight. I was just worried about hurting it. The odds do seem to be stacked again my poor gorgonian. Now, everytime I feed it, the 2 cleaner shrimp run over it all pull all the food out of the polyps. Not good.
  12. blue legged hermit question

I have 2 red-stripe (or skunk or whatever other name I have seen them called) cleaners in there and they are really bold. Every time I put arm in the tank the jump on me immediately and begin picking away at my arms. They also wrestle with my seahorses for food (although the seahorse win more...
  13. blue legged hermit question

Hmmmmm. This causes some problems because my gorgonian is starting to collect some algae which is worrying me. Maybe the crab was just cleaning it (which would be nice)? If only the crab would explain itself to me... Anyone else want to wage in on this?
  14. blue legged hermit question

Not good. I guess I'll have to start tracking them down. Maybe my puffer fish would like them I have only been doing this for a couple months. Trends sure do change fast around here!
  15. blue legged hermit question

I have about 5 blue legged hermits in my 40 gallon tank and just noticed one of them climbing up my yellow gorgonian. Will blue legged hermits damage my gorgonian? Will they snack on the polyps?
