  1. Interesting clownfish Hybrid

    Ahh, gotcha.
  2. Interesting clownfish Hybrid

Looks like some type of Chrysopterus hybrid. Maybe part Sandaracinos as well which would make it a very loosely developed "Leucokranos". Very cool none-the-less. Did you purchase it?
  3. To drill??? Or get overflows?? That is the question....

I'm a bit jaded as I have had nothing but problems with my drilled tank, so I would buy it with the built ins. Also, when you drill the back there's all that plumbing behind the tank instead of hidden underneath. Just my .02
  4. Getting REALLY deep scratches out of an acrylic tank?

I know this isn't as readily available, but a mixture of Hydrogen and Oxygen will "flame polish" out surface scratches and any abrasions left by sand paper. chris
  5. vho vs. pc ?

Having had both CSL 50/50 bulbs, and Hellolights 50/50 bulbs, Hellolights are visually much more pleasing IMO. The CSL do have an ugly teal color to the actinic half, where as the Hellolight are a purplish/pink hue. Chris
  6. Reefkeeper new to chicago.

Some others out in the 'burbs are Petland in Naperville which has a very nice selection and Tropi-Quatics in Lombard, so-so. I don't recommend the Glen Ellyn Pet Center, but since you're so close you you'll probably drop in anyway. I do agree with Scotts being one of the better places. Almost...
  7. Ribbon Eels?

Are ghost ribbons considered the same as the black/blue/yellow ribbon eel?
  8. Sea lettuce nudibranchs

Harbor Aquatics in Valpo, Indiana. An hour drive from the western burbs of Chicago.
  9. pc question: replacement time

It's time to replace my pc bulbs. I currently run CSL smartlamps, but would like to improve the quality of lighting if possible (aside from MH). I have to replace three CSL smarlamps. My tank is 37 gal, with mixed inverts and corals: clams, softies, rose bta, montis... Everything is doing very...
  10. Lettuce Nudibranchs are they a good addition to reef tanks

I had four of them, and even with some hair algae they seemed to just wither away within six months. Harbor Aquatics has them right over the border in Indiana.
  11. Harlequin Shrimp....

LtSmash, a little off topic, but what type of anemone is that in your sig picture? Thanks criccio
  12. Anemone I.D. needed.

I purchasing this anemone believing it was a rose bta, but after seeing many pictures on RC, and in recently acquired books, I don't think so anymore. Considering what I paid for it, and to make sure I care for it properly, could someone positively I.D. this anemone. I think it is some form of...
  13. Is 4X55W PC enough to keep Maxima clams?

I've had 3 maximas (1 ultra blue), and one squamosa, in a 37 gallon with 2-65 watt smartlite pc's for 6 months, they're as beautiful as the day I bought them from Harbor Aquatics. BTW the clams are at the bottom of my tank (20" from the lighting source) with new visible growth ridges.
  14. Acrylic sheet online?

What type of quantities and sizes are you looking for?

Anyone have any info on using rain water as opposed to any filtered water for water changes and topoffs?
