  1. Not just an Asian issue

I'm shocked to say the least. When I was an importer Jayson was a customer of mine. He was moving an incredible amount of of rock back then, I have a hard time believing he'd be dumb enough to try and bypass getting the appropriate CITES permits. Joetbs, I'd like to know who here in Canada is...
  2. CUBA again!

Hey Ontfish, Are they making marine collection a priority now? Years ago when I contacted them they seemed to be concentrating on their freshwater.
  3. Hilarious? Sad but True? I dunno.

Gotta be a joke. Read one of the testimonials. "They made sure my baby BENGAL TIGER wouldn't make a sound at customs by duct taping its mouth shut! They even threw in an extra bag of cat treats and toys to keep him occupied! What a great idea! Thanks for helping me find my dream pet! - Hank E...
  4. Ricordea bust in the Keys

I'd do it if I was still in the biz, proud to say I always did my best to keep my sources clean. Look where that got me. At one point there were 2, maybe 3 clean sources of net-caught fish in Vancouver alone. Now there are none. :(
  5. Any of you guys have customers like this?

I've sold a few plecotomous, chicklets, guffies, allergy eaters, and even a few "saltwater enemas" in my day.
  6. Collectors of Larger Fish

Desheriff Try phoning a few collectors in Cairns. We used to get show Imperator and the occasional show Blueface from a now defunct exporter based out of Cairns (actually collected out of the coral sea at that time.) Some of these angelfish were 16 or 17 inches long.
  7. Importing fish and aquarium stock into canada

Here's your biggest tip for importing into Canada. Don't move to New Brunswick! If you want to make a real go of it move to Vancouver or Toronto.
  8. Do What? (a redneck saying that is growing old real fast)

Customer: "You sold me a sick fish and I want my money back". Once in a while we'd get people coming in asking for "saltwater enemas". Manager:" Do you have your receipt sir? How long ago did you buy it here?" Customer:"3 months ago" Manager:"We only have a 2 week guarantee on freshwater...
  9. LES VILLAGE... NETCAUGHT CO-OPERATIVE

I've got a list somewhere from Ruwi that's probably 2 years old.
  10. LES VILLAGE... NETCAUGHT CO-OPERATIVE

    How's their selection now?
  11. CUBA

Hey Naesco I know of only one exporter in Cuba and they're not particularly interested in exporting much for marines. The were a trade referral so it's going to remain a secret. Don't assume the fish you get from the Caribbean are clean, don't forget that many of them are collected using...
  12. MAC Exporter has netting problems?

Gresham, Who closed her collecting station? I thought she had a total of 6 or 7 people working for her. How many stations has she got? Last time I spoke with her she didn't have alot of money to work with. If you heard all this stuff from Guia take it with a grain of salt, she's...
  13. Fish Mortality In Trade

The double digit DOA must be attributed to the airlines. Nobody can run a viable importing business with consistant high DOA when the good Philippine exporters have got the packing down to a fine art. Wow, where are these DOA numbers coming from? East Coast obviously. I know I'm pissed if I...
  14. For those of you who own full-line stores
