  2. Calcium reactor and tank PH

Note quite true. Aeration will increase the pH of the effluent. It has to, since it has excess carbon dioxide in it, with depresses the pH. There is a limit to the point at which it will increase, depending on time and a few other factors.
  3. No Nitrate measured = no nitrates in system?

High silicate levels will do nothing to encourage "hair algae" growth, since it is not an important nutrient for that type of algae. Diatoms, sure, it will encourage them since they use silicon to build their testes. But even then, diatoms are typically not an issue, all you need is some...
  4. Calcium reactor and tank PH

A pH (note the lack of capitalisation of the "p") of 7.8-7.9 is not something to worry about for a tank if that is the low point over night. Not the best and something you should try to improve gas exchange if your alkalinity is fine, but nothing to really stress over. With a calcium reactor...
  5. Overflow Teeth, Screen, SOMTHING!

I made a comb out of 4.5mm acrylic. Easy to do, even if you don't have a router. You can use a scroll saw to do it, but it is not quite as neat. Best thing about using a comb is even if it does block, then the water level in the tank simply increases, and it drains over the top of the...

  10. Impact of Finding Nemo on number of clownfish imported/sold?

I was actually hoping some feeling or figures from one of the larger businesses, in which such a change on demand etc would be noticable and more representative of the entire market.
  11. Impact of Finding Nemo on number of clownfish imported/sold?

So no difference to the number passing through wholesalers? Any wholesalers out there confirm or deny that?
  12. Impact of Finding Nemo on number of clownfish imported/sold?

Anyone have any idea if it did actually have a noticable impact at all?

  15. Fish Pics (need advice and/or tips)

Is the flash located on the camera? You are getting quite a lot of reflection happening on the glass. Either locate the flash remote from the camera and ensure the angle is such that the light doesn't reflect directly into the camera, or angle the camera on the glass so that the light wont...
