  1. Opinion: What have been the major advances in reefkeeping?

Are you talking North America or world-wide? I used a protein skimmer in the early 70s, back then there were just Sanders skimmers available in Canada.
  2. Delbeek - Leaving Waikiki Aquarium

Just wanted to let the reefing community here know that I have resigned my position at the Waikiki Aquarium after 13 wonderful and fulfilling years there! Thanks to all of you who have dropped by over the years and visited us at Waikiki, but I'm afraid you will now have to find someone else to...
  3. Soft Coral Identification

Wow can't believe no one replied to your simple question. Photo 1 - Most likely Capnella sp. Photo 2 - Clavularia sp. Photo 3 - Sinularia sp. Cheers! JCD
  4. Most humane method to euthanise fish?

I am not sure what Dr. Hank is smoking but he is most assuredly incorrect. Being cold blooded has nothing to do with feeling pain or being able to live in colder temperatures. The American Veterinary Medicine Association has clear guidelines on how animals should be euthanized humanely...
  5. Temperature of a plenum-An Experimental Comparison of Sand..

For your point #2 ... it is called advection and is described in The Reef Aquarium volume 3 pp 261-265. Aloha! JCD
  6. Moorish Idol article?

Just curious ... why do you have pictures of Heniochus in an article about Zanclus? Also, shouldn't it be John Randall, not John Randal? Cheers! JCD
  7. Trimma tevegae

Matt: I believe they are some sort of Eviota species, they are very common in Japanese aquariums, they look like black and white neon gobies but smaller and hover in the water column in schools as you can see. Somewhere I have better pics of them I took in a hobbyist's tank in 2005. They do not...

  11. Trimma tevegae

These fish are found along reef drop-offs in small schools, usually in the mouths of caves or under overhangs. They are not a shallow water nor a seagrass dweller. For example you can see them in this tank:
  12. Trimma tevegae

From Jack Randall Trima caudomaculata is a synonym of T. tevegae. Here's the reference for this: Winterbottom, R. 2005 On the status of Trimma tevegae and Trimma caudomaculata (Percomorpha; Gobiidae). Aqua, J. Ichthy. Aquat. Biol. v. 10 (no. 2): 51-56...
  13. Trimma tevegae

Let me check with Jack on this. Fishbase is not 100% reliable so its always best to get a second opinion. :D Aloha! Charles
  14. Trimma tevegae

That is not T. tevegae Matt, it is T. caudomaculatum, we have had 10 of them on display for several months now along with blue gorgonians from Japan. Aloha! Charles
  15. New Centropyge species
