Sorry Tom, I guess from now on I will have to stop assuming that people have actually read the one page post that they are posting in.
  4. Reviews on LED Ligths

Actually, I am actually in the planning stages of a DIY LED fixture for my 135 gallon aquarium, so I was hoping to get the opinions of some people that have actually used LEDs in a fixture, which was of course, the original purpose of this conversation, however, most of the opinions given so far...
  5. Reviews on LED Ligths

Was it not you that said: "In the indoor plant-growing world LEDs are a complete and total waste of time" in the middle of a discusion about using LEDs on a marine aquarium? It would be safe to assume that you made that comment based on the current conversation, would it not? :?: Remember...

Out of curiosity, why would you base any assumptions about the quality of light for coral growth on the growth of indoor plants? Wouldn't that be more of the algae growing spectrum, which we don't want.. which would make LEDs better for the aquarium environment. ;)

necropost? it's only been a few months.. ;) His statement blanket covers all LEDs, when he only tested one led array, as far as I can tell. I hardly think that his statement is fair or justified, when he tested an array build of LEDs that have no bin rating. ;) This board has almost no LED...

    Can you substantiate this please?
  9. LED Lighting. Is it truly comparable.

I am looking into new fixtures for my tank.. energy savings being the big concern with the old ones. Does anyone that is using this system have an update for us all as to their coral growth levels, etc? Thanks.

Update: Later this afternoon I took out the flashlight and was able to see about 6 - 8 inches of this worm... It isn't in a good place to get a picture (unfortunatley) but the camera is now by the tank.. so I'll try to snap one.. Also, I haven't seen both ends of it either...!

Background: 130 gallon reef tank.. running for about 4 1/2 years.. sat unattended for 1 year while my new house was under renovations so gained massive hair algae problem and most livestock was lost. About 6 months ago the tank was moved into its new home and I started to clean it up about two...
  14. Acrylic tank blow up...

Well.. I just tried to build my refugium out of 1/4" acrylic and failed miserabley... the dimensions are: 12.5(W)x19(L)x24(H) and it was all 1/4" acrylic. I used WeldOn #4 to glue it together... Luckily I tested it outside with tap water before I filled it in my basement... :) Two of the...
  15. website for wiring?

West Virginia law will allow you to calculate how much you can put on a circuit... Watts (W) = Volts (V) x Amps (A) So for example: 60W light bulb @ 100V = 0.54A how many 60W lightbulbs per 15a circuit? 110 x 15 = 1650w / 60w = 27 lightbulbs... Now of course this in not really accurate...
