  1. Clownfish trouble

Lynn, thanks for your reply -- unfortunately, the said clownfish didn't make it. I've had better success with a couple of yellowtail damsels. I suspect the LFS stock is of poor quality, since my water parameters seem to be acceptible, but who knows. tnx again -- :)

  3. Fishy suggestions...

Hi all, I'm currently running a 55g tank, with an A. Ocellaris swimming about all by his lonesome. :( I'm planning on adding a couple more fish next month, and was curious what your thoughts might be. Eventually, I'd like to have: 2 A. Ocellaris 1 Long Finned Fairy Wrasse 1 Yellow Candy...
  4. Clownfish trouble

Hi all, I recently placed two Ocellaris clowns in my tank last Tuesday. They're the first fish to go into my 55g tank, and were doing well until today. The bigger of the two clowns seems listless, hiding behind a rock. It seems to be respiring far too rapidly, and it's fins on the bottom...

  6. pencil urchin stories

Has anyone ever had a pencil urchin in their reef? Any thoughts on their compatibility? Do they eat much coralline algae? Just curious. tnx in advance.
  7. algae eating inverts

Hi all, as I'm new to the hobby, I was curious to see what your suggestions are as far as stocking/types of algae eating inverts. Some numbers I've read seem to be quite low, while others are on the higher end (eg. packs sold by Live Aquaria, FFE, etc) There seems to be a WWF-esque schism...
  8. newbie tank cycling -- w00.

I suppose it would be helpful to mention I have a 55g tank, 1 powerhead, seaclone protein skimmer, as well as a hang-on canister filter.... the protein skimmer hasn't produced any foam yet, which concerns me a bit, but who knows. tnx in advance.
  9. newbie tank cycling -- w00.

Hi all, I bought 20 lbs of Carribean live rock four days ago, as well as 50 lbs of dead rock (I'm a college student, so I didn't have the money for all live rock) Anyhow, the live rock was cured at the local LFS, which is great... 'cept when I brought it home, all of the sponges attached to it...
