  1. Inland Reef Salt Study - Where we're going

I e-mailed Matt on Dec 30th and haven't received a reply either. Since no information or updates regarding this project have been provided recently, I'm assuming this project is effectively "shelved". From a project management perspective, this project can be classified as a failure.
  2. Recommend me some interesting, hardy fish and/or corals

Some colorful zoanthids might be nice.
  3. Inland Reef Salt Study - Where we're going

Who wants to bet that salt manufactures will claim they have reformulated their mix since this study began.
  4. Inland Reef Salt Study - Where we're going

Does anyone know where the article/results will be published?
  5. Le Powerhead...

I use a Maxi-Jet 1200 to pump water from a garbage can up to my sump. I wouldn't say it's super fast, but it works reasonably well even with 4 feet of head pressure.
  6. I lost my directions to my Salifert PH test Kit

5 ml water 4 drops PH liquid swirl 10 seconds put open test tube on white part of color chart and view from above.
  7. Removing Sand bed - Could I put Live Rock On Glass Bottom?

Thanks for the link Galleon! I really like the look of sand/CC glued to starboard. I think I'll plan to do the same. Anyone think .5 inch thick HDPE isn't thick enough? I'd hate to have have it start warping.
  8. Removing Sand bed - Could I put Live Rock On Glass Bottom?

Wow...After pulling some "fleshy leathery" macroalgea from my rocks and inadvertently fragging a big caulastrea, I come back to this thread and need to research tectonic subduction.
  9. Removing Sand bed - Could I put Live Rock On Glass Bottom?

Actually Righty, I'm hoping you're right about the sand bed reaching max capacity. At least I know how to fix that!
  10. Removing Sand bed - Could I put Live Rock On Glass Bottom?

Well, my 150 gallon tank looked best when I had a plenum system installed. Unfortunatly, I jumped on the Southdown band wagon a couple of years ago when my tank's center brace broke. I decided that I needed to replace the tank anyway and the whole concept of a DSB was appealing. The sand bed...
  11. Removing Sand bed - Could I put Live Rock On Glass Bottom?

I was wondering if anyone running barebottom has experience placing live rock directly on the bottom of their glass tanks? I know some are recommending starboard, but do you think that's a necessary insurance policy? I've got about 180 pounds of rock in my 150 gallon tank.
  12. Is it just me or is RC offline

I'm still getting "The page cannot be displayed" message.
  13. Is it just me or is RC offline

It's been down for at least 6 hours!
  14. Pyramidelline snails

I had one type of pyramidelline attaching to astreas that has no desire to attach to my clams. From what I've read in Ron's column on RC, these parasites have a particular host and don't cross over. Astrea hosted rice snails won't bother clams and those attached to clams won't bother other snails.
  15. Foxface - grazing?

My Foxface, like my powder Blue Tang, loves a variety of seaweed. I feed Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies, Palmaria palmata (red) and Porphyra yeoensis (green) most of the time. I'll occassionally add Porphyra umbilicalis (purple). Lettuce belongs in your salad, not your tank!
