FWIW... I have a sailfin im ny 72, going on 5 years. He is a little shy of 6". Still seems happy. Just make sure he has enough swimming room.

What were some of the mixed feelings you have heard of??? The only problems I have heard of is when people first start dosing, their pH. Ca and Alk are out of whack, but this soon settles down.

Get your well water professionally tested before you use it. They will test for pesticides, bacteria, etc. Also, the well water will be naturally cooler than the tap, therefore your RO/DI will not be as efficient.

A trace of nitrate is not bad, it is actually recommended if you are keeping clams. I would still recommend dishing the wet/dry. I too am using an Amiracle as a sump. Remove the balls a little at a time, possible a dozen or so a week. Toss the drip tray, and let the overflow from the tank run...

There is no movement at all in the plate which holds the motor. The white center shaft looks sturdy. Only time will tell how it holds up. The only problem I could forsee would be the grooves in the center shaft wearing out over time, but this is just speculation. Even if they were to wear, it...

Ive been running one on my 72 probably for 6 months now. I couldnt be happier. It has replaced 5 Mjets 1200's. I have the center unit. They figured out and fixed the belt situation, and I have been running with the new belt for over 1 month with no problems. I would ask them about the acrylic...
