  2. Giving away a Bowder Brown Tang and BlueHeaded Wrasse

Moving, need to find a GOOD home for a Powder Brown Tang and a Blue Headed Wrasse. They have been in a FOWLR for about 4 months, both doing wonderful. PB is about 3 inches, Wrasse is about the same. They are free to a good owner. Can be separated. Must pick up locally. Live in Chesapeake...
  3. Powder Brown ILL, please help!

My Powder Brown Tang has the classic symptoms of disease (scratching and swimming around like a madman). He has a 6mm round red spot on the side of his body and a few lightish brown spots (about 3mm)on both sides of his body. I have only had him for a few weeks. Any suggestions? Thanks in...
  4. what do you feed your fishies?

Marine Fishes (Micheal) states a feeding frequency of three times daily on many types of fish. Is this too often? I have a blueheaded wrasse, a picasso trigger, and a yellow tang in a 95G FOWLR. Thanks

  6. Heater malfunctions

Sure. Just goto your local hardware store and get a thermostat. It will take a little electrical work, but in 30 mintues or so you are set to go. There are also temperature controllers you can buy (check various online reef stores) that heaters plug into and are then regulated by. Some...
  7. Skimmer

I have a Euroreef CS6-1 for my 75G FO tank. It is solid. Check them out at Euro-Reef Also, I called them to ask a few questions and they were EXTREMELY helpful. If you want an IN-SUMP skimmer, I recommend giving this one a look. Picked mine up from premiumaquatics.com if you were wondering...

  9. How much would you pay for 8x55w PC's?

I bought a 4 x 55W PC from AH Supply when I built my DIY hood a month or so ago. Great kit. I agree with Canada. If you want PC, AH Supply is a good buy. IMHO
  10. adequate lighting

Not to advertise, but I saw what I thought to be a pretty good buy. What do you guys think? Someone on #reefs pointed me to this site 2 days ago. I don't know what the price is for (just ballast, or with reflectors, etc). Good Luck! 1000 Bulbs Metal Halide
  11. Build, or buy sump.. and then skimmer option?

This May help you out a bit. I built my sump for a 75G FO tank, and put 5gal worth of bio-balls in it. I used thisdesign to base mine off of. However, I have FO, so I used a trickle. Your situation may be different! Euroreef is a solid skimmer, but it needs a good amount of room. Just...
  12. Top 10 Newbie Questions

I am fairly new to the hobby also, but it seems that many people point me to articles/suggestions from about.com. Here is one on Lighting I found to be good general info. Marine Aquarium Lighting
  13. Here we go! Setting up 180 need a little advice??

Of course, all of these suggestions are IMHO, so please listen to others also. Sand: about a pound/gallon will give you 2 inches deep. If you are starting a reef tank, there are many schools of thought, but about 3 inches deep is a good start (some folks tout 6 inch activated beds, but you...

I have a RR 75G AGA with a 20G sump and a Euroreef CS6-1. I have an AGA oak stand also. Check the dimensions on the bigger skimmers. My SC6-1 is 11.5x10 (approx) and it fits just fine, leaving enough room for a return pump. The height is 20inches, and it is tight getting the cup out to empty...
