what was the ph during hypo treatment? Good aeration? One of the big challenges of hypo, in addition to needing close to perfectly calibrated refractometers, is maintaining ph above 7.5. 1.010 to 1.014 could’ve caused a shock especially given the margin of error of an average refractometer.

It’s illegal to take it, if you get caught the fines are through the roof. If you buy anything coming from the ocean make sure to have a certificate it’s fine to take off the island...they’re pretty serious about it.
What’s the texture like when you cut a piece of it? Does it smell foul? How fast does it spread? Sponges usually take a while to take over corals like that. Is the same growth happening in parts of your tank without corals or only on corals?

There?s been a lot of debates of how UV A/B lights impact corals. Not sure that whatever is produced by LEDs would be sufficient to replicate natural levels studies cite. Perhaps if you expose the corals to air while changing water for a prolonged period...
