  2. chipped tank?

I'm setting up a nano reef in my room from my old equipment and am jumping around with what tank size I want to setup. really I'd like to setup my old 29g. I have 2X 2 bulb T5 Nova Extremes that I can use for lighting, I'll probably get a glass top to cut down on evap. I have an Octopus...
  3. Reef Octopus BH-hang-on octopus skimmer

Reef Octopus BH-100F hang-on skimmer with filter chamber for sale, used it on a heavily stocked 40g for around 6 months, worked great. very good choice for sumpless tanks 40/50g and smaller. preferably would like to trade this for a similar capacity in-sump skimmer. alternatively would sell...
  4. for trade (or sale) 250 watt MH JBJ pendent

Hi all, I'm looking to switch out the old MH I have for something a little less potent; the lamp is a 250watt JBJ pro clip-on unit; it has a 20K bulb that is no more than 6 months old, you'd still be getting some life out of it. preferably I would be swapping for a 150watt or 175watt MH. if...
  5. 40g tank setup, plus free established rock, mics coral, etc...

forgot to add, the tank is undrilled and I am located in carol gardens. will get picture as soon as I have time, probably tonight or tomorrow.
  6. 40g tank setup, plus free established rock, mics coral, etc...

I need to get rid of the contents of my 40g breeder ASAP. everything in it is free. unfortunately, the tank is fairly severely neglected and has a pretty bad hair algae problem and a fair deal of cyano. I just haven't had the time to care for it properly. inside if around 40-50 lbs (or more...
  7. FS brand new 57 rimless RR DB and 40 breeder

is the 40g still availible? where is it drilled (bottom or side)?
  8. WTB ASAP 40 breeder stand, brooklyn (trades possible)

if anyone in/near NYC has a stand with footprint 36 by 18" they're looking to be rid of, PM me! the cheaper the better, and it doesnt have to be pretty; so long as it will hold a tank filled with water, I'm interested (actually, lighter weight stands like wrought iron ones would be better, but...
  9. Fish per Nano

I'd say 3-6 is the norm for BC29's. personally, I wouldnt do more than 5, 4 is a good number.
  10. saddle valentini puffer suitability

I looked into diamonds of the reef, but cant find anything on how one actually gets the livestock- are they shipped out? or you pick them up?
  11. saddle valentini puffer suitability

I'm thinking I will do the mimic filefish after all, apparently the puffers often nip at perching fish like hawks, so they're out. from what I've heard the mimics are most likely to nip at SPS, and even though they may sample softies they usually learn quickly that they dont taste very good.
  12. saddle valentini puffer suitability

I'd really love one of these guys; from the fairly sizable amount of research I've done, it seems like these guys are feitsy, personable little fish who can sometimes turn on corals and will often eat snails and hermits. I'd love to include one in the dedicated soft coral dominated tank Im...
  13. seahorse community tank fish

I'd be careful with a trio of banngaiis- they usually dont get on well with conspecifics unless they're a m/f pair. that trio would probably turn into two, or even just one, fairly quickly. there are other caridinal species that would get on in trios, like pajamas, however. IMO I think the...
  14. just my luck- ich! help?

thanks; I know leaving them in the display would probably be better, but I want ich OUT of the tank, and want to know its not going to show up again when I introduce a new fish in the future. I'll be pulling them later today- treatment will start wednesday!
  15. just my luck- ich! help?

so I've decided I'm definitely going to pull everyone and treat them, then leave the display fallow for 8 weeks- I just dont feel comfortable with the idea of doing nothing. NOTE: I know the risks involved in pulling and treating fish, and while I agree that in some cases leaving them in the...
