I've been running an ASM for over a year on my 180g. Pulls a cup of black like coffee skimmate every couple days. For $200 more I could have bought a ER that would do the same. Why pay that much more?
Deltec has one of the best HOT skimmers, but they don't come cheap. If you have the bankroll for it, that would be my choice. I think it would kick butt against the Aqua C.
Tiger Tail cukes are the best. I started with three large ones in my 180g 5 years ago and they multiply all the time. I see about 6 to 7 of them out before lights come on, then they hide once lights come on. Occasionally I take one or two out and takes them to LFS for credit. They do a good job...
Salifert doesn't use a color chart. Once the color changes, you have to look at the syringe and see what level the plunger is at and match that to the chart in the instructions. Their really easy once you use it.
I say they're reef safe. Have had one in my 180g reef with no problems for 3 years. It's never touched any corals, but a 56g tank is too small they grow fast and get pretty big. Mine is now over 7" and it was only about 2" when I got it.
I run PCs on one of my tanks, 2- 10000k and 2- actinic and they never look yellow. I run my bulbs for 18 months and never see a dramatic shift in color and don't run in to bad algea problems from it. I've been running that tank for 4 years like that, softies and LPS and everything is looking...
Thanks Len, like I said it's been like this for months. I was curious how long something like this might take. Has anyone witnessed one of these do this before? The flesh that is sagging seems to be coming from the middle part of the polyps. I wonder when it will start to grow a skeleton and...
For several months this bubble has had this part of the polyps sagging down from the rest of the polyps. All the polyps look healthy. Is this coral trying to seperate into another coral? Here's some pics what do you think, I tried to get a good close up pic.
Thanks NKT. The camera I use is a cheap one, it doesn't even have a macro setting for taking close ups, so the picture quality is lacking. But they are nice pics, just not as clear and crisp as I see others.
