Trying to log onto #reefs this morning with no success.
I tried the java platform as well and it didn't work either.
It is giving me a gzline error saying I need to log into the forums and let them know I'm a real user?
Any ideas?
Thanks, Nathan
My cheato seems to like flow.
I have 6,000 gph in my refugium although it is pretty large. (1,100 gallons)
That is just flow inside the refugium, I feed it with the output of my skimmer (about 800gph)

I'll have to disagree with Greg.
The best thing that I have ever done for myself and my reef was setting up an auto top-off system.
The 2nd best thing was buying a calcium reactor. I've run my tanks for about 5 years without messing with any 2 part additives. When I did use them they were a...
In fairness to the scope I need to clarify that the images were done with the subjects in a shallow petri dish with about 1mm of water. With the depth of focus at 200x magnification that is a big reason for the lack of quality of the image I think. I'm going to get some real slides and I think...
Well, I've been wanting to get a microscope for some time and everytime I ask I'm told that a good one is several hundred bucks if you find a good deal on ebay and anything else is a toy.
So I went ahead and bought a toy. I paid around $75 including shipping.
It is pretty decent. It does...
I've never seen Zebrasoma tangs "school" in a tank under 1,000 gallons. The same fish that school in the ocean will fight to the death in a confined aquarium.
I don't think that will work in a 180.
I don't think you should have more than 1 Zebrasoma in a tank that size, maybe 2 if you have 1 yellow and 1 purple.
That would be more tangs than I have in my 415 gallon tank and I think I'm pushing it with 5.

Well, I haven't done an official water change on the system since I turned up the refugium. Of course that was a few months ago, and once I actually figured it out more like 10 months ago. 8O
I have a nice 200g water change bucket that would end up being about a 12% water change and I...
I think there is a good chance you could get them to breed in that seup.
You might ask Frank Marini over on the fish breeding forum on reef central.

Thanks again guys.
I tried messing with the exposure on the full tank shots and did a little better.
Also took a couple end view shots:
Also thought it was amazing how much my emperator angel has grown.
My emperator angel when I first got it back in February 2005. A little deceptive...
Thanks for the compliments.
To answer some of the questions.
The Emporer eats pretty much any soft corals and picks at some of the sps but so far doesn't pick at the clams. Hopefully it will continue to behave.
The tank is 3/4" standard glass. I really didn't want to deal with worrying...
I lost my breeding male banggai and I've purchased over a dozen wild caught banggai cardinals from 2 different LFS over the last year and tried numerous different things to try to keep them alive. I failed and lost my existing female from whatever they brought with them.
I bought 4 ORA tank...
Thanks.
Taking full tank shots is about the hardest thing for me. If it isn't dark outside there are major reflections from the windows and the tank is 10 feet long so I have to take the picture at a slight angle. If it is dark outside then the tank tends to be way overexposed. I need to...
