  1. taking something from the sea to home...

If you were to be hypothetically coming through Florida customs then any sort of dry trinket could be passed off as a tourist novelty. But then again if you were seeking any sort of shell you could just go to one of our billions of tourist shops here in Florida and you would find the same thing...

  3. RIP Norton

Ever notice how something that feeds on small things like krill or phytoplankton is hard to keep alive?
  4. Anemone lighting note

We all know that anemones dont last for too long in home systems. However I have noted an interesting fact that maybe someone can expand upon. My anemone has been slowly dying and bleaching over the past months. However my friend gave me a good deal on a metal halide. The bulb is old and as we...
  5. Help me ID this (algae?) please

Hmm Ill have to do more research on this. I know there are specific types of bacteria blooms that look like cyano, but they are more aggressive and destroy water quality. It could be a result of dying worms, or other species of bacteria that have died.
  6. Help me ID this (algae?) please

I just saw that your doing lights for 3 hours, I dont think a cyano would survive in that little lighting.
  7. Help me ID this (algae?) please

I dont agree. Cyanobacteria is usually blue green and is photosynthetic. The black stringy stuff you are seeing SHOULD be very bubbly and fragile if Im right. Its the type of bacteria that forms on a recently dead coral. I had an SPS that died the other day and the bacteria bloom on it looked...

Deffinately photoshop. there would be much more discoloration plus infection in a wound that large. As dirty as hands are that would be much more infected. Its too "clean for your viewing." Ever notice how the genuine films are always harder to see and make out than the "genuine" photos. Like...

  11. My 75 Gal

First legos are made out of ABC plastic which is high in carbon therefore may be attractive to organic carbon based lifeforms. Second of all I built a castle cause I figured the predators would love it. Third of all they did. Forth of all I take nothing personally. :D
  12. My 75 Gal

Someone on here posted a thread saying legos attracted coralline better. I thought it would be a noble expiriment. So far nothing. Those threads are non photosynthetic gorgonians.
  13. The Lab

There is a store in atlanta called "The Container Store" I got them there.
  14. For those of you with spawning...

Pretty much all info I can gather will be helpful, corals, clams, fish etc.
  15. For those of you with spawning...

Heres a little questionaire for those of you who have had spawning events in the past. What wattage, kelvin degrees, and actinic to white ratio was the light What was the distance between the light to the surface to the spawning creature. What species spawned. What is the length of...
