  1. Noob ques-warming RO/DI water for water changes

Thanks all - I like the bath tub technique. If I have multiple buckets of water not sure heating each bucket up to temps with a single heater would be the most efficient way to go.
  2. Noob ques-warming RO/DI water for water changes

Hi all, I'm installing a 5 stage 75G RO/DI unit today. I have a 75G FOWLR. Just wondering, how do most people warm their RO water up for doing water changes? I assume RO/DI unit taps into cold water pipe, so water will be on the cooler side. I could see making a few buckets worth and...
  3. Valentine Sale You Don't Want To Miss It

  4. Need to QT Gracilaria?

Hi all. I ordered some Red Gracilaria from reefcleaners (thx all for the reco) to feed my finicky Yellow Tang. Question is, can I feed him right away, or do I need to quarantine? I was thinking of just rinsing w/ FW and adding to my sump as a makeshift Fuge. I just don't know if there has...
  5. New Yellow Tang not eating still, but poops!

Still alive I tried adding buffer, for like 1 and 1/2 weeks, and pH stayed at max 8.1, measured at night. My Alk was then 14+, so I stopped buffering and just doing 5g weekly water changes. Funny thing is Tang is now perikier than ever, but I still haven't seen him eat anything! When I...
  6. New Yellow Tang not eating still, but poops!

Thanks - will try the direct feeding technique. Where does one get "gracilarioa"? I can see liveaquaria selling it but is this commonly found? thx

  8. New Yellow Tang not eating still, but poops!

I had a lionfish many years ago, so just got back into hobby recently. I threw the clam in there because I literally have been trying every bit of food I could try, based on reading forums such as this. To answer previous post I do have some diatoms in the tank, which is obviously brown...
  9. New Yellow Tang not eating still, but poops!

Usually I defrost some frozen food in tank water after soaking in some garlic extreme, and pour into tank. I have also tried Nori on a clip, next to him. Even tried a fresh clam on the half shell. Parameter are 0 ammonia,0 nitrites, 10 nitrates, 7.9pH, 77 temp, 1.024 SG. Alk is 13.
  10. New Yellow Tang not eating still, but poops!

Hi all. I bought a Yellow Tang last Sunday.I tried to QT him (along with a flame angel) on Sunday. FA dies in a few hours so I panicked and took YT out and drip acclimated him to my DT. He only ate once, 8 days ago in the QT. Hasn't eaten since despite trying EVERYTHING...
  11. Hi, New joiner - question about low pH

Alk is API kH test kit. Add drops until it goes from Blue to yellow, I think. pH is Salifert kit.
  12. Hi, New joiner - question about low pH

Got a KH test kit and read 13/14. Too high?
  13. Hi, New joiner - question about low pH

I am considering turning it into a reef soon but not immediately. I just think ph of 7.9 is too low for my fish.
  14. Hi, New joiner - question about low pH

Hi All, 1st time post (thanks so far on all of the free, great advice!). I can't raise my pH. I have a 75g FOWLR, been running 2 months, 100lbs of LR, ~1" sand, 1 yellow tang, 1 flame angel, cleanup crew, cleaner shrimp. Levels are 0 for ammonia/nitrities, ~10nitrates. SG at 1.023. Temp...
