also if it matters I been using the quick dip nitrate/nitrite made by Jungle to test my nitrates... I imagine those are pretty accurate.

I took my bioballs out of my sump and now im having a terrible time trying to lower my nitrate level... anyone have any suggestions? ive removed all the filter media and bioballs from the sump, all that it has now is just my major pump a Rio2100.. its an acrylic sump. My tank is a : 55...

I have a flame hawk that has had a small whithish tear over his right eye, it is in the place where his eyebrow would regularly be.. I was hoping it would go away but now it almost looks more pronounced.. and almost deaper almost like its a parasite that is eating his flesh... Im kinda getting...

Wolfman Thanks alot for all your information! One more question and ill let the subject rest :D You said "The skimmate should be dark. If it's not, move the collection cup higher." What do you consider dark? my waste water is just dirty light brownish/yellowish water... its not clear water...

Fourangel thank you for your response.. I was surprised when you told me to get rid of the filter media, right now i have one of the (marineland) bonded filter pad, and the 4 inch thick sponge that comes with the wet/dry sump... Should I get rid of both?

Ok I just did my water change and will check it again tommorow to see if it went down.. I do have a sand bed with a small mixture of live sand, and i have a filter pad in my wet dry filter.. one by the hose that brings the water in and then one thick pad before the water enteres the pump return...

Hi I recently removed the balls from my wet/dry, that was about the same time I added a remora skimmer... I also started adding Chromaplex to supplement my mushroom polyps.. All my readings were good so I wont bother listing them, but the only thing that was unusually high was my Nitrate...

Thank you for your reply.. My foam is pretty foamy, although the waste is not that dark although its not clean either.. I did not wash it in warm water before using it, just set it up right away. hmm

Hello I just bought this skimmer for my 55 galon tank and it really is working great! I love it.... The reason I posted here is..... Is it really worth it? I mean what value do skimmers really have? ive never had problems keeping my tank clean so was this a waste of money?

Thank you for your responce, I hope he stops this behavior soon :( .. Ive had the Coris for 2 years now and it will be very hard to get rid of him no matter how angry I am at him at this moment (while writing this he just chased my hawkfish across the tank!)
