    Is a 250 watt mh too much lite for a 29 gal?? I currently have 165 watts of pc. 2-10000K and 1-50/50 and everything seems to be doing great. I am an electrician and seem to have a few 175 and 250 watt mh ballasts that were "leftover" from jobs I did and ended up at my house....odd huh? Anyway...

    tank is just a few months old, how do i get my alkalinity down?.....do not have a calcium test kit yet yes i measured in meq/l could it be from my tap water? PH is about 8.1 salinity is about 1.023
