please ignore all the crap under and behind the stand. we are remodeling the den of our 1908 historic district house. because the house is not on a slab the stand legs go thru the floor down to the ground resting on cement pads.
stand frame is 3"x1/4" alum. I-beam, legs are alum. 3"x3"x1/4"...
Used MIG with a spool gun. We have both at our shipyard but use mig with 16lb spools for production welding. TIG is only used for welding small items that need a better finished look, things like handrails (TIG is more labor intensive than MIG). Both methods can be made stronger than the parent...
I am a manager at a shipyard that builds aluminum boats. Alum is light and strong but not as strong as steel, not even the aircraft grade alloys are quite as strong as steel. I have a few pics I can e-mail if anyone wants just pm me with ya address.

I am working on a DYI semi kinda sorta wave maker on my closed loop pump.
It will be a variable speed motor controller that will change the rpm of the pump motor thus changing the flow rate. Using a Dolphin high head series pump HHS 5000 3/4hp. Trying to find a controller...

I built one and it works great!
not as much flow like you would get from a molded one like a Penductor but for less than $4.00 this DIY one is good.
Hope this helps
The only threaded fitting I use are hose barb fittings. Remove hose to take things apart.
Most of the hose barbs I have purchased at Lowe's are molded and the mold seam goes right thru the threads. Have had leaks in the past where teflon tape did not seal at these seams. I even tried trimming...
Fragmaster,
Do you have any idea what is like to scream and curse underwater while holding your bum with one hand and having a very p.o'd fish trying to pull you to the bottom on the other?!
My father was about 20' above me saw the whole thing play out below him...knew what happened and 'bout...
I have been lit up by a "fireworm" once while I was spearfishing in the Gulf of Mexico under an oil rig. That s.o.b was the diameter of a thumb and every bit of a foot long. Bright red with white bristles.
Trust me you do not want to touch one of these guys!!!!!!!!!!!!
felt like about a dozen...
could it be those little white sponge looking things with the clear spikes around the opening? the spikes look just like what is on a bristleworm but much longer and a good bit larger in diameter. I have tons of those in my tank mostly on the under surfaces of the live rocks.
anyone know what...
yes sir, it plugs into a normal household outlet.
only draws 12 watts. I forgot to mention we keep our house t-stat set at 70. I am sure this is why my tank stays below 80. Not because of the fan alone.
also the m.h. bulb is situated only a few inches away from the fan and the reflector is...
yup the yellow wire is a R.P.M. sensor for monitoring software. My Asus mobo has an alarm I can set if the fan runs below whatever r.p.m. I want....fan faliure early warning basically.
I have an A/C fan in my hood blowing out....hot moist air and all.
been running 24/7 for a little over a year...
