You can also try blocking the light from above. Also if it is anchored and streching to the back you can just try to move the tip part out towards the front while still blocking the light in the back and maybe open up the front for more light.

What are you topping off with. Salt doesn't evaporate so you should top off with ro/di (no salt in water). Did you do a 30 gallon change, as in all at once.

How many gallon water changes are you doing? Also make sure that your water change water matches in temp, ph, and alk. You should let your water change water mix up for at least five hours before you use it, Some will suggest overnight or 24 hours.
