Its been growing for a while at first it was very small in the beginning but it eventually cover the whole side of a piece of live rock. I wonder what it is but there seem to be small clear shrimp or pod swimming around it. Could it be a colony of eggs?
thanks for the advice,
the dottyback and damsel seems to be two of the shyest fish in the tank they tend to hide around in the rocks.
Also with all these tang, I read somewhere a good food source is nori. How often should I feed them nori vs. mysis shrimp.
Ive been feeding nori once a...

Is there any typical way to setup the refugium for macroalgae? I was thinking just 4 inch of sugar fine sand and throw some Chaetomorpha and turn on the lights and call it a day.
Yeah I plan to drill the new sump and use an existing hole in my old sump. BTW whats the bulkhead? See if this picture make sense. I plan to get water to the old sump by just natural leveling of the water if that make sense.
I have a 175 gal main tank with a 40gal sump underneath and it houses a skimmer and two heater. I have a old 55 gal tank lying around I want to connect that to my existing sump. Is there anything I need to consider?
I want to make it into a refrugium so I can put a DSB and grow some...
Hi, I've just finish setting up my 175 gallon fish tank. Its going to be a reef tank. I currently have two tomato clowns. I like to put some tangs in ; I was wondering how many mid size tang and what kind I can house. Any Suggestions?
I'll try taking off the glass top, will not the evaporation damage the metal halide bulbs? BTW little off subject, about how many medium size tangs can I put in a 175 gallon tank?
My tank is relatively new. Its a 175 gallon tank with 40 gal sump and about 130 lb of live rock and like 3 inch of sand bed. Its been about month or so. I've just added 3 - 250w halides couple days ago. I've have 2 small tomato clowns for a week and half. Every since I added the lights the...
I've just finish installing my metal halides and it heats the tank up to about 82-83 but thats for about from 12pm to 8pm. I have two heater that keep it around 78 F in the morning and at night. Should I bump up my heater to higher to keep it constant?
thanks
I went to Lumenarc today and bought three mini with the 250w Icecap ballast with 20k SE bulbs. They look great and penetrate all the way to the bottom clearly. Thanks for everyones help.
BTW the customer service at Lumenarc is great, and very friendly too.
I think I'm going to try (3) Lumenarc III Mini with 250w Icecap ballast. But I was wondering for the reflector is there any significant difference from using the double ended bulb vs. single ended bulb? I like the black lumenarc which is a double ended bulb.
