  1. Do you remember this tank ?

BR1200 is at Reefcentral but he doesn't have any pictures in his gallery
  2. prism skimmer...

When it was brand new and every time I fully clean my prism, I have a similar problem. I usually run mine all the way open for an hour and then go back and readjust it down. That usually solves my skimmer problem. I readjust mine probably twice per week.
  3. Mushroom ate a blue legged hermit

I was re-arranging to add some more live rock and moved my mushroom rock several times. Shortly thereafter, my hand swelled up quite a bit. I know a bristleworm didn't get me so I suspect it had to be the shrooms that doing something to me.
  4. The problem with patience...

don't add any corals, just leave fish for right now. Treat it like it was a reef tank. Do periodic water changes and allow the tank to continue to age. When you have more time to go reef, you will have one heck of a stable system.
  5. new sump.

    now that's a sump 8O
  6. mushroom detaching?

I have had shrooms detach because the current was too high where they were located. On the other hand, I also had a shroom rock that 2 detached from and the others stayed put. I have no idea why those 2 were unhappy where they were when all of the rest of the shrooms on that rock were...
  7. Disadvantages in low flow reefs...

I used a splitter because the current from my return pump stirred up my DSB no matter how I angled it. I found out later that the sugar sized sand starts to hold together better after a while. It drastically reduced the current in my tank but I just added another powerhead to intersect the...
  8. Catastrophe

Could be a lot of things. Maybe a batch of bad food. Did you have a pest control company spray for bugs? Did you use a chemical near the tank? (I heard of someone who lost fish by using Pine Sol on the wall near the tank). Did you use any kind of chemical while you were away from the tank...
  9. HDL Right Now! Bacteria?

I used it when setting up a 75 gallon tank. I had just purchased 83 pounds of (mostly cured live rock). My LFS highly recommended it. I didn't use the metal-gone and try to get a full cycle in 24hours. However, my tank did cycle completely in 8 days----it was most of the way through the...
  10. Appreciate ID - the green one

you hit the nail on the head. Mine is more translucent than their picture so I must have cynaria. PS---sorry about hijacking the original post. Hopefully, our comparisons are useful to you.
  11. Is this a very bad sign?

good point----I actually read the original post wrong. I thought the WATER was turning purple.
  12. Is this a very bad sign?

Yes, my LFS told me not to ever expose a sponge to air. They said if you do, they will die in your tank and foul your water. That's why I would recommend a water change.
  13. Appreciate ID - the green one

I actually though it was a cynaria donut coral (often called a meat coral) http://centralpets.com/pages/critterpag ... 1713.shtml I have a green one (but not quite as green as the one pictured)
  14. Temp at 75 to 84

I had a 7 gallon nano that had similar problems. An el-cheapo heater from the local Walmart pet shop solved my problem along with flipping the lid open whenever the lights were on.
  15. Food for Softies

I use DT's live phytoplakton for my filter feeders and use coral heaven (targeted feeding with turkey baster) for my polyp's. I also dose iodide for my softies once per week. There might be better ways but I figure if I'm getting good growth, why change.
