  1. ToeCutter's Reef Chemistry Visual Aid

Just turned it off to see if anyone cared :'( And someone did! :D j/k reefnerds is moving to a different hosting company, and www hasn't been switched over yet. So for now, just go here: http://reefnerds.com/ChemPlot/ChemPlot.html
  2. HOT TIPS: How do you perform your waterchanges?

I have a ~150 gallon system. I do about 25% every 3 weeks or so. My RO/DO runs to 2 rubbermaid tubs with heaters and powerheads. I mix in Tropic Marin for a day or 2. I have a pump in the tank system that's plumbed to a sink drain via a dishwasher adapter. I open a valve to the drain and...
  3. project for next MACO acrylic course

It's not gonna get listed til I have it ready (or close to it) :P so, about 2 months from when i pick "Ca reactor" then pick up a pencil and design it.
  4. project for next MACO acrylic course

Any class project would give you the acrylic fabrication skills to build whatever you can design. But you get a huge jumpstart with the actual class project, since I do the design and even supply templates and parts in an optional materials package (for extra $$$). I could certainly help with...
  5. project for next MACO acrylic course

Hiyaz I'm leaning towards a Ca reactor or an upflow media reactor. The tricky part about a sump is that I couldn't do a standard size, because everyone has different needs. So, I would probably have the students figure out their own cut lists and buy their own acrylic, rather than offering a...
  6. ToeCutter's Reef Chemistry Visual Aid

I added an about page, and corrected a thing or two, so it's time to BUMP!
  7. Curious Worm Fish

neat fish... funky underbite mouth. They powerdive into the sand. They freak out easily, and jump out. A fish that small is hard to keep from jumping. The hide a lot as mentioned.
  8. project for next MACO acrylic course

Ummm... no. But I might expand on the importance of coming up with original designs :)
  9. Hitchhiker images? You have?

Are they laying free-floating egg coils or do they stick to something? I'd be interested in getting some of the eggs into the hands of berghia breeders. There may be many animals that would eat baby nudis in your reef system. Where are you located?
  10. project for next MACO acrylic course

    oops doube post
  11. project for next MACO acrylic course

prafferty - I'm not positive on the Ca reactor design that I'd go with, but my gut feeling is that I'd do a desgin where the pump is below the reactor tube. That type could be set up to run upflow or downflow. knucklehead - Cutting, routing, gluing, and bending are covered in the course (table...
  12. project for next MACO acrylic course

feel free to bump this thread with tons of enthusiasm :D
  13. project for next MACO acrylic course

It about that time to plan for the next MACO Acrylic Fabrication course. http://www.aquaristcourses.org/ Here are some possibilities for the class project. This will help me to gauge the interest in each. I will take the poll results into consideration, but the poll winner is not guaranteed...
  14. Can you ID this? PIC

In my experience, and from what I've heard from others, those clear/white flatworms don't reproduce into plague numbers that the reddish-brown ones do. I'd say leave them alone and enjoy them. Mine died out. I wish i still had them.
  15. Hitchhiker images? You have?

it's not a Berghia verrucicornis (you should be so lucky - they only eat aiptasia).
