i have this green thick algae sticking to my sandbed and starting to creep up my rock. when i clean it out it is so stuck to my sand that it takes a layer of sand with it. anyone know what type of algae this is? what causes it? and how i can get rid of it?

aside from the obvious like wire inside the tank or outside can someone help me justify the gap in pricing? using a wavemaker vs using mp. i don't have experience with either. i've only used koralias and similar poweheads.
