  1. New Turf Results

This thread shows why this forum has gone from a leading internet reef forum to a forum ignored by 99.9% of reefers. When I started researching my first reef tank about six years ago this forum was had a stature equal to RC. In fact I felt that this forum generally had more thoughtful posts...
  2. Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer

There is more than one way to run a reef tank. The very nicest tank I have ever seen in person (full of SPS, clams, an anemone, gorgeous) was run on a miracle mud system only with no lights over the miracle mud and no macroalgae. No skimmer. No chemicals to remove phosphate or nitrate. No...
  3. Mega-Powerful Nitrate and Phosphate Remover Replaces Skimmer

Excellent idea SantaMonica. What you have done is take an established idea and demonstrated a practical and simple way for people to implement the idea. I'm going to try it in my 30 gallon cube. It is a higher-nutrient lower-light reef. So far it has two Ocellaris clowns, a BTA, and a...
  4. Can't keep mushrooms alive

  6. Chaetomorpha for RDO Members!

How do you secure Chaetomorpha in a refugium/sump? Does it just float in the water, or attach to a piece of live rock, or do you bury it partly in the sand? Also as a rough idea how fast would it grow, what I mean is, do you prune it out weekly or is it much more slow growing than that? I...
  7. Chaetomorpha for RDO Members!

Well I have lots of experience shipping plants (FW) as I have traded plants with dozens of people across North America. The best way to ship plants (or marine macroalgae) is with no water in a plastic bag. Take a half a piece of paper towel, submerse it in tank water to make it moist, then...
