Be wary of buying skimmers at the LFS. Most lfs carry only the mass produced skimmers including red sea prisms, sea clones, and read sea berlins (their "high end" skimmers). At the prices the lfs charge for these you are better off mail ordering a euro-reef, precision marine, or aqua C in sump...

No web sites, but Ultimate does do mail order via phone (old town does if you know the owner). I don't have the number with me, but they advertise in FAMA if you have a copy handy.

danmhippo, Trust me, Old Town and Ultimate Aquarium get the same stuff marine center does! Marine Center gets their stuff from the very same distributors that everyone else does. Stuff is seasonal, so when it is available (a shipment comes into the country) all the high end stores get it...

Definitely one of my gripes with this design...who wants a cascade of water into their sump? ER and the other skimmer manufacturers should really look into designing in sump skimmers with submerged returns (yes I know that this affects the skimmer water level, but it can be designed to avoid this)

I have two powerheads near the surface. When I do water changes every two weeks I skim the film off the top. A fine mesh net also works.

Also, one of the guys who wrote for Married with Children has a sweet in-wall reef...he's on the boards every now and again.

Mariah carey, some guy from the jaguars, and master P had really nice reef setups (in wall, custom, marble trim), but the stuff inside was pretty boring (sarcophytons, damsels, yellow tangs). Just watch MTV cribs...there's a fish tank in every episode.
