Greg:
Thank you- from a fellow old salt.
I'll take experience over pontification any day. :)
One thing that experience has taught is that although there are very few absolutes there are an awful lot of extreme likelihoods. Thanks again.

I've seen the four-line wrasse (P. tetrataenia) sold as the neon wrasse. If this is your fish then I think it is too similar and closely related to the six-line to risk putting them together.
I agree with Greg's assessment of the six-line and would add that once established it can be very...
Borders Books used to sell Practical Fishkeeping Magazine. I used to pick it up regularly and in fact I was awed by the photos of David Saxby's huge aquarium. I have not been able to get the magazine my last few trips. I assumed they stopped carrying it.

I was in the Freeport store right before Christmas and didn't see any - unless they moved it from its usual spot.
The Home Depot at Sunrise Hwy and Rt 112 in Patchogue had a couple of skids of it back in the fall. It was in the outdoor garden area. The skids were up high so look up.

I agree with Raphael. NY Aquaria is probably the best close to where you'll be. I believe its off exit 18 on I-95. Also, Reef and Fin in Stamford CT is pretty close. They are in the process of moving to a new larger store so call first-(203) 325-3562.
If you feel like driving to Long Island...
I ordered some plumbing parts from them Tuesday evening and they were delivered on Friday. Sent surface UPS from FL to Long Island. Very good first experience.

Not much to see in NYC IMO.
Best stores in area are:
Country Critters 152 Rt 112 Patchogue NY 11772 Phone: (631) 758-6891 This store is on Long Island- a good 45 minute ride from the city line.
Reef and Fin 180 Bedford St Stamford CT 06901 Phone: (203) 325-3562 This store is...
I agree with wade's first post in this thread.
This could be another situation like the "Raiders of the Reef" article in Audobon magazine a few years back. Julian Sprung and others gave information to the author that was then spun into a negative slant against the hobby. When facts were...
danmhippo: It's nice to know I'm not the only one doing these things. :D Have you been spying on me 8O . I tell my wife that the difference between the expensive rocks I collect (corals, etc.) and the expensive rocks she collects(gold, diamonds, etc.) is that at least mine are alive. Al
Big time thank you to everyone involved. I've really missed Aquarium Frontiers and this on-line mag looks like a new favorite already. It's great to read thought provoking articles. BTW I'm no computer expert by any means(in fact I find using this thing somewhat challenging and annoying) but...
I picked up 10 50lb. bags of Southdown today at Home Depot in Patchogue NY(Long Island). They still had half of a skid left. It was $3.84 per bag. That's 500 lbs. for under $40!Thanks Grumpy Vet for giving us that list of locations back in June.
