Well it wouldnt be the first or last time I hear of someone buying an Apex and having no idea what to do or where to start. Programming your tank is an art, a true project for any reefer. So why is it so challenging even with all this info laying around? The answer is simple, many people cause redundancy in their programming and cause things to be running when they shouldnt be which eats away at your electric.

PLEASE BE ADVISED. These guys really left a bad taste in my mouth today.
I set up an appointment with them and had the appointment rescheduled three times. I had a 10:00 am appointment today that was confirmed this past Monday and they were a no show. Not even a call or response to my text or my calls.

I've had members flake on me before but you'd expect a little more from a vendor.

Just do a quick search on anyone's profile you deal with and see if you think they are new to reefing or a veteran and it will tell you all you need to know. Try it with him I just did :) A little research goes a long way

Yes. If I know you don't know what your doing and then decide to sell corals and fish I'm not going spend my money and maybe get a sick fish or a sick coral. Would you let a Plummer fix your Pipes if it was his first month in the business?

Plumbers still need to go through an apprenticeship and all that... so while the analogy works out, I don't think it's valid.

If you know me though, you may not know my alter ego. Do you know who Reef Lobster is , if he has another id that may have a real reefer rating, higher post count etc.?

I think the real tell-tale is after a few months in business, he still has no friends and a 50% reefer rating with only 2 feedbacks...

Inevo exactly my point. Would you hire a Plummer if he had a month expierence? No. I've read through some posts and threads and not a lot there. Now if he came on the boards a month ago and was very knowledgeable then yes if give him a shot.

well this sure went south quick! Geez let me save some face while im back on the web.


As some of you have decided for me this account is new here, however i have been WORKING in the business for over 8 years. I have worked with various vendors and service companies all across long island. I am extremely polite and would never do this to a customer.


I had a EMERGENCY call the night before where i unluckily dropped my phone in their tank and lost all my contact info. I unfortunately was unable to reach jim in any form until today. There was a lot going on between a leaking 500 gallon tank and my phone gone to the depths of this tank.


As jim stated I also rescheduled him 2 times prior due to my grandmother being in the hospital.


I am a young ambitious reefer with extensive knowledge of this hobby and web applications. My pockets however werent as DEEP as i would have liked them to be when i started to list items so i shifted my attention more towards service calls for now until i can deliver high end to al you awesome members.


So far my account has been here for a few months but i didnt do anything with it until september. I just opened it to hold the name down.


I have tried to talk to jim but im getting the cold shoulder. I even offered half off my original rate which is me being generous considering he is in west chester and i am in queens and wil need a good tank of gas and tolls.

I am trying the best I can with the help I have, until you actually start something you have no idea how hard it is. I

Now that I have gotten my feet wet and have built up some solid service clients I will be updating the site with more corals again soon.


I plan to have a varriety of over 200+ zoas lps and sps to choose from.

I do hope that my image can be changed by my explanation and my future ventures with manhattan reefs. It sure hasnt been easy being a service guy, web developer, salesman, advertiser, accountant, social media expert, and most importantly a reefer!

well wish you the best of luck, but your better off starting small and delivering phenominal service, then trying to go big and not being able to keep up and not getting very good first impressions

I was trying to keep it to PMs but since you're posting here, allow me to respond.

I waited over eight hours for a reply after our scheduled appointment yesterday before posting on here or giving a reefer rating.

I understand that you dropped your phone but I'm sure you must have had my contact info written down being that I was a new client. And if not you could have reached out to me here through a PM in the hope that I might see it.

Instead you chose to blow me off and probably didn't expect any repercussions. If I didn't post on you page or given a Reefer Rating would you have ever responded?

Turn the situation around?how would you have dealt with it? Honestly?

Also you did not mention half price, you told me you would give a discount but never gave me a price and I was still willing to let you come without even knowing how much it would cost me.

I feel bad that you had an EMERGENCY but the way you handled me and my appointment was wrong.

On another note?.Is there anyone else out there that could help me with my APEX?
